And so, so many more! While we certainly learn from each and every experience, it is not these experiences alone that make us better. We are constantly researching and developing new menus, new ideas for buffets, spectacular ways to present our food and to wow our guests overall. Next week we are furthering our education by attending the top catering conference, Catersource. At this 5 day conference and tradeshow; we will meet the top caterers in the country, be introduced to the newest and coolest products and further develop our amazing staff! We could not be more excited, and can not wait to bring back the wealth of knowledge. So sit tight and we’ll be back soon!
The early months of each new year are spent preparing for the next ten months of craziness! We retrain team members, attend conferences and trade shows, and try to get ahead. Some of this preparation includes capturing new audiences for the upcoming year. Well, what better way to find new clients, then at a Bridal Show! We have our booth, created our spectacular display and will soon be oozing Globalness to over 1,000 attendees. This Sunday, February 20th from 11am-4pm at the Brazos Expo Center, Global, along with many, many, many other exhibitors, will be strutting our stuff. So, if you are getting married, planning on getting married, or just want to pretend you are getting married, join us at the Bridal Association’s Bridal Show!

Part of our job is to think out side of the box…this is the part we really have fun with! When asked to feed 1,000 very important guests fun snacky food, we immediately thought of s’mores! The only problem, we were in the middle of a large park with out fire. The solution, a custom-built fire source for many to use at once. The result, AWESOMENESS!!
Most diets are fads: No carbs, all carbs, juice detoxes…you get the picture. But the newest fad, is not joining in on the diet fad; it’s the no-fad diet, fad! The idea is simply to eat in moderation and fill your day (and your belly) with wholesome, superfoods. Blueberries are well-known for their antioxidants, but did you know they also are packed with fiber? The USDA ‘picked’ blueberries as one of the top antioxidant-rich foods. It is not just fruits and vegetables you have to choose from to reap these great benefits. If you love mexican cuisine, you will be happy to learn black beans not only boast antioxidants but also magnesium, which helps maintain nerve and muscle function. According to Real Simple, kale, kiwi, broccoli, avocados, sweet potatoes, edamame and even pumpkin are among the top 30 healthiest foods. Our new favorite is a little plant-based protein called, quinoa (ki nwa). For some, none of this is new news. For others, it may be a great way to stay healthy in the new year and shed a few inches, but either way, know that you shouldn’t rule out the healthy options when using a caterer. Regardless of your event or your headcount, there is always room for fun, healthy and tasty food! Stay tuned for some of our favorite ‘superfood’ recipes.
What is Global Event Group all about?? We have staff that even ask that! So, to help catch everyone up to speed, we are spending 2011 explaining! Global Event Group started 7 years ago as your basic catering company. But even in the beginning, we made sure to stand out. Our company is rooted in the idea that excellent customer service (as in the, “yes ma’am, yes sir, not a problem” kind) combined with quality food and creative presentation will keep us growing. And grow we have! As you follow our blog you will find light-hearted moments, as well as stressful, in the day of our event coordinators and managers. We will share customer-loved recipes…maybe even our spinach dip. Behind the scene stories of extravagant events and even more extravagant people as well as the latest adventure (or venture) we are on, will keep you coming back for more! But, to answer your question now; we are part caterer, part event producer, part special events facility, a dash of coffee shop, and a few pinches of deli…but check back for recipe updates. Enjoy!
